3 Takedowns From Knees with Professor Sio Gali
Does your BJJ gym start training rounds from the knees? This video is for you! In this tutorial, Professor Sio Gali shares his three favorite takedowns for starting from the knees.
While learning takedowns from this position isn’t as essential as other techniques, it’s still important, especially if your gym or academy often starts training rounds this way. In self-defense situations or competitions, you’re unlikely to start on your knees, but for many it is common to find yourself in this position during training. Not knowing what to do can be frustrating, so we’ve put together these techniques to help you get to a dominant position quickly—without wasting the whole time just trying to knock each other off of the knees.
The goal is simple: Get on top, and stay on top.
This is a fundamental principle in BJJ.
