For local teen it's not her first rodeo
She must have been fearless at age four. That's when Makayla Rubin started riding horses. She says "I was never scared" and "It was more of a little walk or a little jog and the older I got the faster I went." Eventually taking little strolls just didn't cut it for Makayla. She wanted more. She says "I have a need for speed, my mom doesn't really want me to have that but I do." That's why just a few years ago Makayla starting riding in the rodeo. For the past couple years Makayla and her partner Smokey have competed in the Ontario High School Rodeo and National High School Rodeo Association. Makayla just graduated from Niagara Falls High School, an honor student. She works two jobs and is getting ready for the National High School Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyoming. To help pay for her trip to the Nationals, Makayla's family and friends are having a fund raiser on Sunday June 24th at the Lewiston Stone House from 1-5pm.
