As we saw last week, you are to look diligently to Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of your faith. Author and finisher. Essentially the beginning of your faith and the One that makes your continuing faith to be possible. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. And Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. You are saved by the grace of God and by faith on Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Now remember, in the Book of Hebrews, the writer has written this letter to Jewish believers. In the early days of the church, it was mainly Jews that came to Jesus Christ in faith and not as many Gentiles. You see that in the Book of Acts on the day of Pentecost, Jerusalem was filled with Jews that had traveled from all around to there and it was Jews that were saved on that day. The Book of Hebrews was written for these Jewish believers so that they would understand that Jesus Christ is better than the angels, He is better than the patriarchs, He is better than anything or anyone else. The writer then goes on to show the Jewish believers that the Old Testament sacrifices pointed to Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ is the great High Priest as well as the Lamb of God.
