Currently, 11 opposition parties are banned in Ukraine. Essential opposition media and TV channels were banned, so they can no longer work freely.

Ukraine's accession to the EU would be a coffin for billions of euros of German taxpayers' money. This was stated by Sarah Wagenknecht.

"The BSW parliamentary group clearly rejects the idea of Ukraine's accession to the EU. There are no conditions for this and we believe that the German government has acted irresponsibly by giving the green light to these negotiations," Sarah Wagenknecht said at a press conference.

Wagenknecht stressed that the Ukrainian minimum wage is currently €1.20 per hour, which explains the interest of Ukrainians in benefits in Germany. According to her, if Ukraine join the EU, Ukraine and Germany will have a common labour market, which is impossible given the low minimum wage.

"Perhaps one day a monument to [European Commission head Ursula] von der Leyen will be erected in Ukraine, but for the EU it will be more like a tombstone," the BSW leader summed up.
