SÃO JOÃO DEL-REI, MINAS GERAIS!

In this video we start our tour of the destinations in Minas Gerais where you will find lots of typical, fantastic colonial architecture. We visited São João del-Rei and the first stop was the train station to take the cute, old looking train that will take you from Tiradentes to São João del-Rei. The train is called Maria Fumaça and it is a very nice experience riding the train. The ride will take around 45 minutes from Tiradentes to São João del-Rei. Once you arrive in São João del-Rei, you are immediately hit by building after building with a typical colonial architecture. Almost all the houses in the historic centre are from the colonial era and we also passed by the following churches: Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Catedral Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Pilar, Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário, Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Mercês, Igreja de São Francisco de Assis. We also visited some other landmarks of the city such as the crooked houses that are very close to the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Right next to this church you will also find a house called Solar dos Neves which belongs to the family of the first Brazilian president after the end of the military dictatorship, Tancredo Neves. Once we were done with our tour of São João del-Rei, we returned to Tiradentes and drove to a cute little town near Tiradentes which is called Bichinho and it is famous for its little shops and restaurants as well as its own crooked house which is a very interesting structure to see.
