Make your own cranberry sauce: one 12oz bag of fresh cranberries plus about two thirds cup of sugar (or its equivalent). Put it in a saucepan or small crock pot and pour boiling water over it and stir. Then let it simmer for about half an hour, stirring occasionally because the cranberries float and you want them evenly cooked. After half an hour, they are soft enough to mash with a potato ricer or pour them into a large bowl and mash with a slotted spoon. Then put them into a colander to let the juices drain out. Now you have agood amount of nice thick cranberry sauce ready for your Thanksgiving turkey as well as some delicious cranberry juice.
