Deadline - U.S.A. (1952) Bogart Film
Deadline - U.S.A. (1952) is a classic film noir that follows the story of Ed Hutcheson, a crusading newspaper editor played by Humphrey Bogart. The plot unfolds as Hutcheson faces two major challenges:
Saving the Newspaper: The newspaper he works for, "The Day," is on the brink of closure due to declining circulation and impending sale. Hutcheson is determined to save the paper and its dedicated staff.
Exposing the Gangster: To boost circulation and potentially secure the paper's future, Hutcheson takes on a high-stakes investigation into the criminal activities of a notorious gangster, Tomas Rienzi. This investigation puts him in direct conflict with Rienzi and his dangerous associates.
As Hutcheson races against time to complete his exposé, he also navigates personal turmoil, including a strained relationship with his ex-wife, Nora. The film masterfully weaves together these elements, creating a suspenseful and gritty narrative that explores themes of journalism, crime, and the fight for survival.
