The Ring-Necked Parakeet is a brilliant green parrot that's become quite a common sight in many British cities, especially around London. These noisy birds originally come from Africa and India, but they've made themselves right at home in the UK since the 1960s. They're pretty big for parakeets, about 40 centimetres long, and you can spot them easily thanks to their bright green feathers and that distinctive rose-pink and black ring around the males' necks. These clever birds live in holes in trees and love eating fruits, berries, nuts, and seeds. You'll often hear them before you see them - they make quite a racket!
