The Publics Role in Records Schedules

Records schedules, signed by the Archivist of the United States, authorize agencies to preserve records of historical value or to destroy, after a specified period, records lacking continuing administrative, legal, research, or other value. This brief video explains the review processes involved in record schedules and how public comments (through the Federal Register) contribute to the final decision about how long records are retained by federal agencies.
