Playing Tag With A Green Iguana!
55
During mating season, adult green iguanas (mostly males) can become very territorial and aggressive due to the shift in hormones, the need to protect their territory, and the need to find females to mate with. Their appetite can decrease during this time as they become more focused on mating. They tend to become temperamental and can cause injuries by biting or whipping their tails.
Bobbing, tail flicks, presenting their duel-flaps, raising up on 4 legs to appear larger, and so forth are common mating season behaviors.
Know your iguana, and do research when taking one in.
(In memory of Harley. 2 years and still dearly missed)
