The Magdalene Sisters

"The Magdalene Laundries" a part of history that needs to be exposed.

The story is of three Irish girls who were victims of The Magdalene Sisters (Sisters of Mercy) Catholic Nuns in Ireland.

Young girls were exposed to barbaric practices, locked up without trial and sentenced to forced, unpaid labor for such crimes as flirting with boys, becoming pregnant out of wedlock, or being raped.

The women were enslaved to work of debts they did not owe, and, if pregnant their babies sold.

The Magdalene Laundries flourished through the 1970s and processed some 30,000 victims; the last were closed in 1996.
