Ep. 12 The Not So Safe House: Ploys R Us

The safe house was far from what Chad had hoped. It was decrepit, with mold creeping up the walls and boarded-up windows that gave the place an abandoned, forgotten feel. As they stepped inside, Chad’s suspicion started to grow. He couldn’t help but wonder if Judy had set him up, especially after the strange encounter at the municipal clerk’s office.

His paranoia heightened when, out of nowhere, two shadowy figures burst into the room. Judy reacted instantly, pulling out a gun and firing. She managed to wound one, but the other dodged and escaped into the night. Chad, caught off guard, questioned where the gun had come from. Judy, breathing heavily, explained she had a license for it—in another state. She reassured Chad that despite their secrets, splitting up now would mean certain death for both of them. They had crossed too many lines, and their enemies were too close.
