Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly been working from an “underground saferoom” out of fear of coming under retaliatory drone strikes by regional resistance movements.

The premier has been hosting the regime’s “security meetings” at the room, which is located in the basement of his office in the holy occupied city of al-Quds, amid heightened protective measures, the regime’s Channel 12 reported on Monday.

The official has been using the location since October, when a drone struck his residence in the city of Caesarea, north of Tel Aviv, in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Thousands of angry Israelis flooded the streets of Tel Aviv in protest after Qatar's decision to scale back its mediation efforts regarding Gaza. This move has caused panic among Israelis.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s talk of “total victory” over Hamas is “nonsense,” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said during a classified meeting with the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in Tel Aviv, according to Likud MK Tally Gotliv, who was present at the meeting.

Israel’s ousted defence minister, Yoav Gallant, has reportedly said the army has achieved all its objectives in Gaza and that Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a hostages-for-peace deal against the advice of his own security establishment.

Gallant was speaking to hostages’ families, two days after being sacked by Netanyahu, and reports of his remarks quickly surfaced in Israeli media.

“There’s nothing left in Gaza to do. The major achievements have been achieved,” Channel 12 news quoted him as saying. “I fear we are staying there just because there is a desire to be there.”

He reportedly told the families that the idea that Israel must remain in Gaza to create stability was “an inappropriate idea to risk soldiers’ lives over.”
