November 11, 1972 - 'Monon Bell Memory' : DePauw vs. Wabash
8 months ago
24
The Tigers put up a valiant fight, but when the final gun sounded Wabash College was left with a victory and control of the Monon Bell, 20-14 at Little Giant Stadium. Six DePauw turnovers -- five of them fumbles -- made a record-setting performance by sophomore running back Bart Simpson a footnote to the game and not the headline.
Simpson rushed for a school record 170 yards in the contest, erasing the previous mark of 143 set by George Mestousis in 1958.
'Monon Memories' were created by Ken Owen.
