Why Putin Should Fear Ukraine's Homemade Missiles
Ukraine’s new developments in missile technology could be the turning point in the ongoing war with Russia. Since the beginning of Russia’s "special military operation" in Ukraine in February 2022, missile strikes have been a key part of Russia’s strategy. The devastating missile barrage of August 26, 2024, in which Russia launched over 120 missiles and 109 drones at Ukrainian cities, is just one example of how Russia has used long-range weapons to damage civilian infrastructure and disrupt daily life in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attacks, highlighting how Russian President Vladimir Putin's actions are only possible because of the lack of significant international constraints. While Western countries, particularly the United States, have supplied Ukraine with advanced weapons systems, they have restricted their use to specific areas, limiting Ukraine’s ability to strike deep into Russian territory.
