LOVING ALL OUR ENEMIES

27 “But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.

You know guys, no matter how many times I read this particular account of Christ’s crucifixion, the statement out of Luke 23:34 still gets me. I say this for two reasons. One, because I am surprised that Jesus was able to utter those words out of His mouth, considering His physical condition. But also, that I would find it hard for myself to say let alone do. As Tim Gustafson stated so very well on this morning's devotional, when it came to this issue, “Jesus did far more than speak those challenging words. He lived them.” I want to live these words out, but how do I do that, when I have people that are exposed and premeditated hatred towards me because of my faith in Jesus? How do I love the LGBTQ person, the drug addict, stripper, prostitute, who is doing “drag queen story hour” and yes even the atheist?

Tonight, my friends, I'd like to share some things that God has been showing me not just from this passage of scripture, but from many others on what it means to show love to those who hate us, showing love even to our enemies, through this vlog I'd like to share with all of you tonight, and I pray that what I share with you will both challenge and encourage you to want to show love to those who hate you. So, my friends, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to leave you with these questions from Thank you this morning’s devotional, and I pray that they will not only challenge you to want to love your enemies, and to good to those who hate you, but also to walk in the kind of love that shows kindness, mercy and compassion just as Jesus did.

My prayer for all of you my friends, is you will ask God to show you tangible ways in which you can Show love, compassion, and kindness to those who mock and ridicule you. That you will choose to show the love of Jesus to the LGBTQ person, drug addict, prostitute, stripper, and yes even the atheist, because they are no less deserving of God's love and mercy. Ask God especially to help you see your enemy as He does, his image bearer, and be willing to show the love of Jesus for that person. Choose today to walk in the kind of love, compassion, mercy and kindness that Jesus did. Even to our enemies!
