📍 North Carolina — What can Parents do to prevent their Children from being taken by CPS?

Numerous reports coming from people on the ground say NC Child Protective Services is taking Children away from parents following Hurricane Helene

• CPS says they’re doing this only if the parents cannot provide “adequate housing” which can include a friends house.
—— This is a major red flag…

• Additionally, to compound the issue of not having “adequate housing”… Red Cross has closed multiple locations throughout affected areas
—— specifically Haywood County, and three others
—— these closures, per the Red Cross was because there “was no longer a perceived need for emergency shelters in those locations at the time of closure”.

This is disastrously FALSE… and has left individuals without immediate shelter.

Need some legal expertise for parents… what can parents do to fight back who don’t want their children to be taken by CPS?
