Marty Belanger is a 12th generation (1634) Franco-Albertan and retired engineer, known for his sharp political commentary and cultural observations. He embodies a libertarian perspective, often critiquing what he perceives as a shift in societal norms towards the left.

In this episode, we recap and unpack some thoughts on the recent United Conservative Party Annual General Meeting held on Nov. 1-2 in Red Deer, AB. This was our first time attending such an event and we found it a fun, fast-paced, and generally very positive experience. Seeing the enthusiasm for provincial policy throughout the halls and rooms of Westerner Park and getting to have thorough, thoughtful conversations with both the yea- and nay-sayers in attendance was a fascinating and eye-opening experience on the state of Alberta politics.

We also chat on some topics related to the 2024 US general election, as well as the Alberta independence movement, and some general commentary on Canadian energy and the equalization payment system.

Big thanks to martyupnorth for joining us on the show! His experience in these settings and willingness to share his insights were invaluable in helping us analyze and better understand the event as a whole.
