In 2021, Jonathan Davis, a man with a long history of traffic violations, struck 23-year-old Cassidy Mongeon with his car in Jacksonville, Florida, and left the scene. Davis was later sentenced to 20 years in prison for his actions after turning himself in the day following the accident. Cassidy, who worked as a bartender and was deeply loved by her family and community, tragically died from her injuries. Her parents had to make the heartbreaking decision to take her off life support.

She was an independent spirit who loved the outdoors, enjoying nature walks, kayaking, fishing, and collecting seashells. Cassidy also loved to read and listen to music. One of her greatest joys was taking care of her dog, Maggie, a Treeing Walker Coonhound.
Cassidy was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, where she graduated from Leon High School in 2015 before moving to Jacksonville. She worked for UPS and had a passion for helping others and bringing awareness to workers' rights.
