A demonstration of the drum part of the second third of the song "Message in a Bottle" by the band the Police, drummer Stewart Copeland who used a reggae/ska groove to drive this song and would also be the basis for future Police songs on the albums, Zenyatta Mondatta and Ghost in the Machine. This drum part is often bastardized due to misconception of what is actually played by Stewart. His playing on this song was much different than what preceded it as well as the rest of the band's playing and compositions.
An emphasis on beat 3 with the underlying "four on the floor" provided the foundation.
