The Reunification of China: The Decline of Qing

In 2017, I wrote a series of 28 essays covering a period of Chinese history from 1916 to 1950 that I called my "Reunification of China" series. I am currently trying to turn these essays into video format to create a video series here on YouTube covering my research. I hope you enjoy!

In 1916, China shattered into a period of civil war and strife. But what was it like before the fall? Let's travel back in time and watch the very first unification of China under the Qin Dynasty and Chinese history up until the reign of Empress Cixi of the Qing Empire. Let's look at the pieces on the board when everything went wrong.

NOTE: The German version of "55 Days at Peking" references 11 nations rather than 8. This number includes Spain, the Netherlands, and Belgium who had their personnel and assets attacked by the Boxers during the Boxer Rebellion.
