Top of the Pops '64 (24th December 1964) - Missing Episode Reconstructed

At 7.25pm, on Christmas Eve 1964, BBC1 broadcast Episode 52 of Top of the Pops, a one-hour Christmas special entitled Top of the Pops '64, comprising all 21 songs that had reached the No.1 spot in the BBC charts that year. That meant featuring four songs by The Beatles, two by Cilla Black, two by the Searchers and two by Roy Orbison!

The original videotape was wiped shortly afterwards but luckily an audio recording made by a viewer on reel-to-reel tape survives and has been used to reconstruct the show, as close as possible, to how it may have looked 60 years ago.
