COP29 begins with Trump expected to pull out of Paris climate accords

It's being called, not for the first time, the "last-chance saloon".

Leaders are gathering in the oil-rich nation of Azerbaijan for COP29.

But with temperatures continuing to rise and extreme weather events causing death and destruction across the globe, Donald Trump's election to the White House is unlikely to lead to any help from the US.

He pulled out of the Paris climate accords during his previous presidency and has promised to do so again.
