46th In our series the Prophet Micah

I. The Foolish Rulers  - Psalm 2:1-5
* A. The raging of the wicked who attempt to overthrow God’s Law 
* 1. They form a conspiracy against the Triune God
* 2. They hate the Law of God 
* a. They view the Law as shackles and chains 
* b. It prevents them from doing what they please
* 3. God laughs at their folly, they will not escape His wrath
* 4. The law of God cannot be broken - when humans violate God’s law they are broken by it - Psalm 2:9
* B. Wise rulers will serve, worship and obey God - Psalm 2:10-12

II. Dealing with the Problem of Guilt - Micah 7:18
* A. All violations of God’s Law demand full payment
* 1. A pardon was only possible by the substitutionary atonement Jesus offered on the cross
* a. As with the Passover in Exodus, unless the blood of the lamb was on the door posts and lintel, death came to the household
* b. Jesus is the lamb of God - John 1:29
* 2. Guilt can not be atoned for by any other means
* B. For those who accept that atonement - Micah 7:19
* 1. God’s compassion upon sinners 
* 2. God’s empowerment to subdue our sins - Hebrews 12:1
* a. Victory over sin is a very effective way to deal with guilt - we are more than conquerors
* b. We answer the accuser - Revelation 12:10
* 3. The memory and feelings of guilt
* a. Jesus is our propitiation - Psalm 103:8-14
* b. God remembers our sins no more - Isaiah 43:25
