In Which We Serve 1942is a British patriotic war movie directed by Noël Coward and David Lean, who made his debut as a director. It was made during the Second World War with the assistance of the Ministry of Information. The movie starred John Mills, Bernard Miles, Celia Johnson and Richard Attenborough in his first screen role.

It follows the crew of the HMS Torrin, a Royal Navy destroyer, and is inspired by true events from World War II. The story is told through flashbacks as the ship's surviving crew members cling to a life raft after their vessel is sunk in battle. Through these memories, the film explores the courage, resilience, and camaraderie of the sailors and their families back home.
