Southern California wildfire rages as it engulfs homes, forces mass evacuations

A fast-moving wildfire in Southern California, known as the Mountain Fire, destroyed over 130 structures, forced the evacuation of more than 10,000 people, and led to school closures across Ventura County.

Strong winds fueled the blaze, which has spread to 20,596 acres with only 7% containment as of Friday.

The fire knocked out power, prompted road closures, and led to water safety advisories for residents.

Ten people were injured, including a firefighter, and nearly 800 homes were evacuated, USA Today has reported.
