Blue States Gear Up For A Fight With Trump

Democratic governors are now taking steps to fortify their states against an incoming President Trump and his Project 2025 agenda. JB Pritzker has pledged “fierce resistance” if Trump tries to force his will on Illinois. Saying in a speech today: “To anyone who intends to come, take away the freedom and opportunity and dignity of Illinoisans, I would remind you that a happy warrior is still a warrior. You come for my people, you come through me.” Gavin Newsom has called California’s state legislature into session to “safeguard California values and fundamental rights”. They will also focus on funding the state’s litigation efforts as they prepare to sue the Trump administration to prevent him from limiting civil liberties, reproductive rights, immigration, and climate safeguards. Washington state is joining California in these efforts. The last time Trump was President he lost 95 of 97 cases brought by Washington. New York has created the “Empire State Freedom Initiative". The state plans to do the same as California in protecting New Yorker’s civil liberties from the Trump admin. As for Trump, he says he will govern by doing what he campaigned on.
