The leaders of Israel and the Netherlands condemned 'antisemitic' attacks on fans of the Israeli football team Maccabi Tel Aviv after a game in Amsterdam, and a leading Jewish group said the Dutch capital should be 'deeply ashamed'.

Amsterdam police said on Friday they had launched a major investigation into multiple violent incidents. In a post on X, they said five people had been taken to hospital and 62 arrested.

Israel's president, Isaac Herzog, was among senior Israeli politicians who said the violence recalled last year's attack on Israel by Hamas gunmen
