Kenya: Somali Muhammad Brutally Murdered One of His Wives, an Ethiopian National, and 3 Children

☪ Hashim Dagane Muhumed/Muhammad, a Somali national arrested as the main suspect in connection with the brutal murder of three women in Eastleigh, has been linked to another horrendous murder.

Detectives from the DCI say Dagane is suspected to have lured a woman (pictured) into an apartment in Lavington, brutally murdered her before grossly dismembering her body parts.

The suspect packed the body parts and carried them to Lang'ata, where he dumped them along a road, near Lang'ata Cemetery.

"The detectives have established that the lady was in the company of Hashim Dagane, who was residing in the said apartment where the duo spent time before Dagane was on 31/10/2024 captured leaving the apartment carrying two bags suspected to have contained the remains of the victim that were later in the day discovered at Langata cemetery," a DCI statement says.

It has also been verified that after Dagane left the apartment, the owner discovered what had happened in his premises, went ahead and cleared the mess, had the rooms repainted, and thereafter went under. He is being sought.

Police believe the woman murdered could be Deka Abdinoor Gorone, who was reported missing at California police station on 24/10/2024.

The remains are being subjected to forensic analysis to ascertain the identity of the victim.

Detectives believe the killer used a chemical to meticulously strip the bones of flesh. The motive behind the murder remains unclear, though Hashim’s connection to several murders suggests a disturbing pattern of violence.

Hashim’s background only deepened the horror surrounding the case. Investigators discovered that he was previously a regional police officer in Ethiopia before moving to Kenya. In Nairobi, he worked as a driver at various schools in Eastleigh and managed to blend into the local community.

This isn’t Hashim’s first brush with the law. He had already been linked to the murders of three members of a family in Eastleigh: Amina Abdirashid, her aunt Waris Dahabo Daud, and her niece Nusayba Abdi Mohammed. Despite this history, Hashim remained elusive, shifting between Eastleigh and Lavington while occasionally venturing as far as Somalia and Ethiopia to evade capture.

Preliminary findings reveal that the suspect served as a regional police officer in a neighboring country before deserting the service and escaping to Kenya. Investigators are also probing claims that the suspect was once jailed for a murder case of a family member.

Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday, November 7, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), John Onyango, disclosed further details about the suspect's background. Onyango revealed that Dagane, a Kenyan of Ethiopian origin, is suspected of having a violent criminal history, including the alleged murder of one of his wives and their three children in Ethiopia. “He reportedly had a family in Ethiopia, where he was married to three wives and allegedly killed one of them,” Onyango stated, adding that the circumstances of Dagane’s release from custody in Ethiopia remain unclear.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and piece together Dagane's alleged involvement in these and potentially other violent crimes.
