Arriving in Silent Hill 2 after receiving a mysterious letter, James takes a minute to stare into the mirror before he ventures into Silent Hill.

- According to the Silent Hill Wiki:
James's age at the time was 29, and his previous occupation was as a store clerk, maybe in South Ashfield?
He was also an excellent track runner making him the fastest runner out of all the main characters.
James and Mary met at a house party when they were young.
James's fate is undetermined and nobody really knows what happened to him.
James has many similarities to Jacobs Ladder's protagonist, Jacob Singer, in that they both wear M-65 olive-drab military jackets; they both grapple with guilt, lust and lost marriages; and neither of them endure a journey into his own tormented psyche.
The reason why James hovers his hand in front of his face at the beginning of the game is to "check if he is in reality or if he is dreaming".
