There is a very common myth that once an Osprey grabs a fish, it can’t let go. This is simply not true, and I’ve documented them “letting go” of many things: fish, jellyfish, and even a slice of pizza once. I imagine sometimes they do get in trouble with a catch, but the majority of the time, they can simply let go and try again.
