'Miracle for Democrats to win' after CNN exit poll

Newsweek senior editor at large Josh Hammer has declared he is not "backing away from his prediction" that Donald Trump "will win" the election.

"You'd way rather be in Donald Trump's shoes than Kamala Harris," Mr Hammer told Sky News Australia.

Mr Hammer also reacted to a CNN exit poll that found 75% of American voters hold a negative view of the way things are going in the United States.

"When you have 75% of Americans saying they are dissatisfied or angry - they are out right livid - with the current direction of the country, and by the way who can blame, it actually would be a miracle if Democrats can win," he said.

Major polls are now closing across the United States, with early results expected soon.
