A bitter and fiercely fought US presidential election campaign will end with a vote which could have huge implications not just for America, but the wider world.

It will see either the Democrat Kamala Harris becoming the country’s first woman president or the Republican Donald Trump retaking the post he lost in 2020. What matters are the swing states, and all eyes are on seven really competitive battlegrounds. The most recent polling points to all of those contests being within the margin of error.
