Ohio Freemasons Started from Scratch: Why This Masonic Lodge Has The Best Retention Rates

On this episode, W:. Brian Byrd and W:. Dan Hrinko, both Past Masters, discuss how Daniel helped create a new masonic lodge in Ohio, literally, from scratch. As their masonic lodge was looking for something that would intrigue the members more, a group of men took it upon themselves to start a new masonic lodge. Fast forward, this Freemason Lodge is boasting some of the best retention rates in the United States, maybe even the world.

Biography of Daniel Hrinko:
- Daniel D. Hrinko was initiated in February 1977, passed in April 1977, and
raised April 1977 in Clark Lodge No. 101 Springfield, Ohio, Grand Lodge of Ohio.

- He served as Worshipful Master of Clark Lodge No. 101 in 1982-1983, and again in 2004-2005.

- He was the Worshipful Master of, Arts & Sciences Lodge Under Dispensation in 2009-2010, and served as the Charter Master of Arts & Sciences Lodge No. 792 in 2010-2011.

- He has served on the Grand Lodge of Ohio Committee on Education and Information from 2007 through 2014 and served as a District Education Officer in 2013 and 2014.

- He served as a District Deputy Grand Master during 2015, 2016, and 2017.

- He received the 33rd degree from the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction in 2021.

- Brother Hrinko is also a Past Master of American Union Lodge No. 1, Grand Lodge of Ohio, originally chartered in February, 1776 as a Revolutionary War military Lodge.

Brother Hrinko has penned “The Craft Driven Lodge”, a book reflecting on the process used during the formation and subsequent operation of Arts & Sciences Lodge as it grew from the Goose and Gridiron Social Club to become the thriving Lodge it is today.

He has also penned “The Purple of the Fraternity, a handbook for District Deputy Grand Masters, Grand & Lodge Officers”. This illustrates that the principles taught in our craft align directly with the concepts of servant leadership and offer models for behavior that will serve those in leadership positions well.

His latest book is “From Man to Mason; A Transformation through Education” which lays out a multitude of opportunities for Lodges and Brothers to assist a man in his growth into becoming a Mason.

Bro. Hrinko believes that the process of studying the ritual to better understand it as well as the lessons contained within these experiences are an essential element of this transformation.

We get these questions often: What does the mysterious secret society of Freemasons actually do? Does this episode expose freemasonry and masonry? What about The New Order and The Illuminati? Is there a whole Secret world of Freemasons? We think not.
