David Stockman Endorses Libertarian, Telford Talks Teaching

In a powerful and resolute endorsement, David Stockman—former Republican U.S. Representative from Michigan and Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan—has announced his support for Libertarian candidate Mike Saliba in his race for Congress against Republican incumbent John James in Michigan’s 10th District. Stockman’s endorsement highlights Saliba’s clear stance on key issues like foreign policy, fiscal responsibility, privacy, and the role of the Federal Reserve, marking a distinct departure from the status quo in Washington.

“I wholeheartedly endorse Mike Saliba’s platform in favor of a peaceful policy abroad and a return to sound monetary and fiscal policies at home,” Stockman stated. “The four key positions below sharply and clearly differentiate him from the Washington UniParty policies that are leading America to economic, political, and social ruin. It is therefore long past the time to break with the destructive status quo and petty political squabbles of both parties and return to the principles that made America Great and which Mike Saliba so strongly supports.”

Stockman detailed his support for Saliba’s platform in four key areas:

Foreign Policy: Stockman praised Saliba’s commitment to a peaceful, diplomatic approach that calls for a return of American troops stationed around the globe and an end to antagonistic foreign policy measures. “We must initiate the return of our soldiers from around the world, including Korea, Japan, Europe, and the entire Middle East. We must cease the war propaganda, threats of a blockade, and plans for attacks on Iran, nor should we re-ignite the cold war with Russia over Ukraine,” he emphasized. “We must take off the table the threat of a nuclear first strike against all nations.”

Privacy: Stockman endorsed Saliba’s call to protect civil liberties and personal privacy, advocating the repeal or substantial reform of legislation like the USA Freedom Act, the Military Commissions Act, and FISA. Saliba’s stance also opposes torture, the abuse of executive power, and secret surveillance. Stockman added, “We must reject the notion and practice of torture, eliminations of habeas corpus, secret tribunals, and secret prisons.”

The National Debt: Stockman lauded Saliba’s pledge to halt any further increase in the national debt and to take responsible fiscal action to prevent the burdening of future generations. He noted that “we must pay our bills as we go along and not unfairly place this burden on a future generation.”

The Federal Reserve: Stockman commended Saliba’s plan to investigate, audit, and end the Federal Reserve’s unchecked power to influence the economy in favor of corporate interests. “There should be no taxpayer bailouts of corporations and no corporate subsidies,” he noted, adding, “Corporations should be aggressively prosecuted for their crimes and frauds.”

Stockman’s endorsement underscores his belief that Saliba’s positions represent a much-needed return to the principles of fiscal conservatism, individual liberty, and restraint in foreign affairs.
