What Controls God?

In the heart of Scripture, love is not only a command but the very essence of God. 1 John 4:8 reminds us, “Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” In this message, we will explore the profound question, “What Controls God?” and discover how faith, hope, and love—especially love—are central to understanding God’s nature (1 Corinthians 13:13).
Love is not simply an emotion but an active, enduring commitment. In Galatians 5:6, Paul emphasizes that “faith works through love,” pointing us to a love that operates with patience, kindness, and truth (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). This sermon will also address the qualities that define true love and how love serves as a peacemaker in our relationships (Psalm 105:15, 1 Peter 4:8).
Furthermore, we will consider the question, “How do I display love?” Through walking by the Spirit, we can embody love in all we do (Galatians 5:16, 22-23). As we abide in Christ (John 15:4), we bear fruit that reflects God’s love—love that covers sin, brings peace, and reveals God’s heart to others. Join us as we look deeply into what controls God’s heart and how we, too, can pursue a life defined by love.
