SUNSET MORNING - Shelton Bradshaw live from Balboa Pier

Waking up at sunrise can hurt the body and mind. Waking up at sunSET injures the body, mind and soul—and all that implies. But the next time you’re arising from REM unconsciousness as the sun disappears, before you tell yourself you’re a worthless, good-for-nothing, hopeless, lazy loser, please relax and know yacht-rock icon/sex symbol Shelton Bradshaw has, true to form, courageously, heroically braved the plank too keep you from feeling alone. Perhaps on your next “Sunset Morning,” whatever caused it, you may even be able to chuckle at yourself and enjoy the day off you probably deserve.

SUNSET MORNING
Day’s racing, frantic pacing, won’t wait.
Body tossing, mind turning, to and away.
Early moaning, later groaning, why play?
Now stressing, then testing, not even awake today.

Rollin’ in a group solo motion.
Sold and stolen by a dry black ocean.
Lovin,’ running undercoverin’
Got something, gunning for nothing.

(c1)
I hear the call of the wild.
A wrapped gift to a child.
Life’s dice are under way.
But won’t be joined by me today.
I’ll bob along the tide’s swayyyyyy.

Such a dusk un-pretty.
First stirred at night in the city.
Such an ominous orange in.
A sunset morning.

Days long but years too short to save.
Especially when made of these long days.

(vs 2)
Light headed, feet leaded, I’ll stay.
I’m same placing, time’s aging, all the same.
So inspired, too tired, too stall.
Brain hurting, if it’s working at allllll.

Black and white full color affair.
Tell the empty crowd I’s lost somewhere.
All was known I lie they weren’t aware.
Wish they’d shown when I needed ‘em there.

Marines peacefully pursued.
A nurse fights for another life saved.
History remembers their place.
But won’t record my name today.
Just a boat floating on the wind’s highwayyyy

No candlelight kisses.
Others are lovers, guess I missed it.
Day breaks to a nightlight’s warning.
On a sunset morning.

Days sun ray’s gone, shadows stay.
Grown from my own memory bank.
