Dragon Age: Veilguard Punishes You for Misgendering—What a Clown Show!

In the latest Dragon Age: Veilguard cutscene, we’re hit with possibly the cringiest attempt yet at a "teachable moment." The game forces players to watch a painfully drawn-out lecture about “the right way” to apologize for misgendering someone. Yes, that’s right—there’s even a lesson on pulling a “Barv,” a nonsensical tradition to show you really mean it by making yourself “sweat a little” through a quick workout.

The scene goes out of its way to make sure no one forgets the "right" way to apologize, even shaming those who might simply say, "Sorry," without enough regret. They’re making sure players know a casual apology isn’t enough, but it just comes off as painfully forced and more than a little absurd.

This cutscene highlights the way Veilguard is trying to push a message, but it falls flat, adding to the growing feeling that the game’s “virtues” are actually draining the soul of the franchise. It's a cringeworthy addition to a series already struggling under the weight of heavy-handed "woke" scenes that take away from the fantasy experience fans once loved.
