A task force was assembled from elements of 3rd Battalion, Chernarus 10th Separate Tank Brigade after a warning order from 10th Tank Brigade was issued. The order stated that separatist forces were preparing to close in on the village of Oktyabrski, with a combination of infantry, and light and heavy armor. While the intelligence which was the basis of the order was thin, it was clear that the separatists were planning to march directly on the village.

Once the task force was assembled, the tactical plan for the defense of Oktyabrski was for 2nd Squad and the two Scout cars to form a defense line on the eastern half the village, while Command Squad, with Reinforcing Rifle Squad 1 and Reinforcing Tank 1 would occupy the west side, including the main north-south road.

The three tanks were ordered to form a solid armor block some distance south of the village in order to engage and destroy enemy vehicles as they attempted to occupy Oktyabrski. Friendly forces defeated enemy vehicles, but were surprised by massive attack from enemy infantry emanating from the northeast, which included Russian militia and Wagner Group operators.

In the midst of this attack, Battalion Command issued new orders for the task force to advance and occupy a small wooded area northwest of Oktyabrski. Task Force commander in conjunction with 2nd Squad and Reinforcing Rifle Squad 1, launched local counterattacks against separatist infantry, defeating them and enabling the new advance to continue.

Task Force commander ordered the three main battle tanks to advance approximately one km north of the village to form a solid armor block, as 2nd Squad and Reinforcing Rifle Squad 1 swung around to the southwest and to the north, to the new objective. Command Squad, with Reinforcing Rifle Squad 2 advanced to a location to the east side of the wooded area then advanced to hold a position.

All the while, the enemy continually attacked mainly with vehicles and with infantry. When 2nd Squad and Reinforcing Rifle Squad 1 finally arrived at their new objective, they were attacked by a massive enemy infantry force which included Wagner Group operators, Russian naval infantry special forces, and Spanish militia. Those attacks pushed 2nd Squad south and very nearly destroyed Reinforcing Rifle Squad 1.

Commander wheeled Command Squad 90° to the west and counterattacked into the location where enemy infantry had attacked. The fighting was very intense. Command Squad inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy, but pressure from the enemy attacks forced Command Squad back to the east. It was at this moment that an enemy T-34 attacked and destroyed Command Squad BMP along with its crew.

Commander ordered the task force to retreat to a Rally Point southeast of a Oktyabrski. Despite attempts at pursuit against our retreating forces, the great bulk of the task force retreated back to the Rally Point in good order.

Losses were heavy. Tank 2, AA1, and Reinforcing Tank 1 were destroyed. Scout 2 BRDM was abandoned due to damage, 2nd Squad lost six, Command Squad lost four including their BMP, and Reinforcing Rifle Squad 1 was wiped out.

Field counts of enemy losses included five BRDM scout cars, three T-55 tanks, three T-34 tanks, three BMPs, two technicals, and two gunships.

Despite the heavy losses, defense of the village Oktyabrski against a marauding separatist force was a success in that so much damage was done to the enemy that prevented it from holding/taking the village.
