ALONE
Past is pulling at my forward moving best.
A wake of damage, it’s hard to manage next.
Years of rust, dust, indecision behind me.
Pioneer vision and dreamer’s ember inside me.

Ma said love’s everywhere you go.
Pa warned life sock’s your nose.
Instead of seeing ahead, hindsight’s blinding my light.
Wishing again I’d rewind and make it alright.

But the past is just that I know you know I know.
You can pay airfare there, but can’t go.
I dream away scars, but it don’t show.

Only revelation’s I’m so far from home.
My only consolation’s I’m not la la la la la, alone.
La la la la la.

I was run outta town when roads inbound ignored me.
Yea there’s clutter back there but frontier’s bare before me.
A motor that rattles, a good name in tatters, I hear.
Still in the battle, that’s all the matters my dear.

Pa said beware on the rise.
Same blank stares can watch ya die.
Can’t see new warning signs, looking behind.
Wanna return then, with twenty-twenty sight.

But the past is just that I know ya know I know.
Ya can spend dear years pretending it ain’t so.
I can dream among the stars, but won’t glow.

In holy desperation abandon my heart of stone.
My only consolation’s I’m not la la la la la, alone.
Lo la la la la.
