In a tragic workplace incident, Travis Merrill, 51, fatally shot his coworker, Tamhara Collazo, at Allegiance Trucks in Texas. Merrill had developed an unhealthy obsession with Collazo, which led him to closely monitor her break times. After Collazo reported him to HR and tried to avoid him, Merrill’s behavior escalated. On the day of the incident, he retrieved two revolvers from his car, ambushed Collazo at her desk, and shot her multiple times in front of their coworkers.

Merrill had meticulously tracked Collazo’s movements for months, feeling increasingly angered by what he perceived as unauthorized long breaks. Despite HR’s intervention, his obsession grew, leading him to purchase firearms and rehearse using them. On the day of the attack, Merrill admitted to following Collazo into the office and shooting her in a premeditated act intended to make her feel the pain he believed she caused him.
