Throughout the year, the village hosts a dizzying array of festivals, concerts and exhibitions.

I have been fortunate enough to attend the Kitara Traditional Dao Festival, where the village transforms into a living museum of maritime heritage.

The sight of traditional wooden boats lining the shore, the smell of incense in the air and the sound of old sea shanties.

It's like stepping back in time.

Qatara is not just about preserving the past, it's actively shaping Qatar's cultural future.

The Qatara Publishing House, for instance, is at the forefront of promoting Arabic literature, while numerous workshops and classes offer everything from traditional crafts to modern filmmaking.

As the sun sets over Katara, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink, I am reminded of why this place is so special.
