Gen 19:1 Lot’s fortunes had gone very well. The gate of a city was the place where the town elders met (Rth_4:1). Lot had become so enmeshed in the life of the city that he had become a ruling elder. bowed himself: A term commonly used for the worship of God (Gen_22:5; Gen_24:26); here it describes Lot’s act of reverence to special guests (compare Gen_18:2). The angels appeared as men (Gen_18:2), and Lot greeted them as such.

Gen 19:3 On removing to the plain, Lot intended at first to live in his tent apart from the people [Gen_13:12]. But he was gradually drawn in, dwelt in the city, and he and his family were connected with the citizens by marriage ties.

Personal Supplication
Father, grant me the grant me the grace to live undistracted by the traditions of my time in Jesus' name 2 Pet 2:8-9
8 Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day.
9 So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment.
