How a 9mm case is made

This is the beginning of the process. Here you see a transfer press with two inputs and two outputs. The input are brass cups that are pressed out on the two monster presses at the beginning of the line. From there the cups are washed, annealed, and then pickled before being polished. After polishing they’re ran through highspeed inspection machines to confirm diameter, wall thickness, overall length etc. A hardness test is done to confirm they’re the right spec before heading into this transfer press. This press is where the case is drawn out, head stamp, prime pocket and flash hole is put in. Later down the line it’s cut to final length and the extractor groove is turned into it.
A lot of steps to make everything in house. But this is the only way we can hold such high standards and tight tolerances.
