ENG: Full interview coming up online soon! In the conversation with Ana Maria, we discuss the issues with intercountry adoption. At the age of two, she was adopted from Indonesia to the Netherlands, against the will of her biological mother. When she was 18 years old she went back to Indonesia for the first time where she was reunited with her mother again. In 2015, she migrated back to her native country where she currently lives and works in Surabaya.

Ana is the co-founder of the Mijn Roots Foundation that supports adoptees in their search for their biological parents. Through her work, Ana discovered that her case was not an isolated one and that many adoptions were against the law. She speaks of child trafficking and crimes against humanity and believes that this practice has to stop.

Binnenkort online! In het gesprek met Ana Maria van Stichting Mijn Roots praten we over interlandelijke adoptie. Ze werd op haar tweede jaar vanuit Indonesië, tegen de wil van haar biologische moeder, geadopteerd. Op haar 18e ging ze voor het eerst terug op zoek naar haar moeder die zij op die reis vond. In 2015 vestigde ze zich permanent in haar geboorteland. Ze woont en werkt momenteel in Surabaya.

Ana is mede-oprichter van Stichting Mijn Roots die geadopteerden helpt met de zoektocht naar hun biologische ouders. Door haar werk kwam Ana erachter dat haar geval niet op zichzelf stond en dat er bij veel adopties is gefraudeerd. Ze spreekt over kinderhandel en misdaden tegen de menselijkheid en vindt dat deze praktijk moet stoppen.
