Matthew Crawford is an applied mathematician, educator, author, and entrepreneur with a unique background spanning from Wall Street to education reform. After six years in finance, including roles on Wall Street, Matthew turned his focus towards his real passion: transforming education.

Since 2021, he has authored the Rounding the Earth Substack, where he analyses complex issues such as data around the "pandemic," explores alternative approaches to education, and unpacks historical events—all to empower people with knowledge and protect individual freedoms. His work challenges mainstream narratives, advocating for independent thought and a proactive approach to safeguarding liberty in a world increasingly influenced by centralised control.

Matthew shares his journey from growing up in a cult to becoming a passionate advocate for independent learning and education reform. His early interest in mathematics led him to self-directed study and later to a career in finance before shifting focus to education, where he aims to make maths engaging and community-driven. Matthew believes in teaching maths playfully and personally, through small group settings, to foster deep understanding rather than rote memorisation. He critiques the education system’s centralised control by influential groups, which he feels limits creativity and critical thinking, and calls on parents to actively nurture their children’s curiosity and intellectual independence.
