NW WYOMING WILDLIFE

Video “photobomb” alert! This is NOT moose habitat. However, on occasion moose, most apt to be a bull moose, wander through, “looking for love in all the wrong places”. A young 3.5-4.5 year old bull moose walked behind Randy as he talked. Cathy was busy doing other work. Later that morning, the bull moose was captured on our game camera by the road, out of sight of the house. Still later in the day, Cathy and neighbors had good photo ops mid-day. See thumbnail photo.
This video is most specifically about the NW corner of WY. Realize that the situation here is totally different to the rest of the state. There is a huge difference in hunting here, versus the rest of the state.
While there are issues specifically to each hunt area, the situation in NW WY, surrounding Yellowstone National Park, has unique issues due to the enormous number of large predators, especially wolves and grizzlies.
The number of draw tags for elk, since 1998, has dropped by nearly 7000, cumulative. Yet the number is higher draw tags in other areas. Though that creates another issue: more of that land is privately owned, and much of that is not open to hunting. Now those parts of the state have too many elk, but we have too few.
