For over a decade, Christians in Nigeria have been violently persecuted by the radical Islamic terrorist organization, Boko Haram. You will see how Christians in Maiduguri and their shepherd, Roman Catholic Bishop Oliver Doeme, have persevered through great suffering at the hands of Boko Haram. Solidarity with the Persecuted Church (SPC) is committed to rebuilding the Christian Church in Nigeria once the threat of violence has subsided.

Bishop Doeme has become a symbol of Christian perseverance in northeast Nigeria. As bishop of the birthplace of Boko Haram, Bishop Oliver Doeme has refused to give into the fear of Islamic terrorism. He bravely walks the streets in his bishop's cassock and has remained an enduring symbol of Christianity in the region.
