God Isn't Complicated, We Are
God is simple. God's ways are simple. We are the ones who complicate life when we don't trust Him, draw near to him and seek His will.
When we go astray, become distant with God, and allow sin into our lives, we complicate life. We open the door to negative consequences, negative feelings, negative mind sets. We allow access for darkness to enter in. It might be ever so slightly at the beginning, but it will creep in more and more without us noticing.
When we put our trust in God and live according to His Word, we have joy, peace, rest, comfort, courage, strength, hope, encouragement. No fear, no worry, no anxiety, no disappointment.
God always has our best interests at heart. He tells us in Jeremiah 29:11,
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Placing our trust in God and living according to His Word, doesn't mean we will not experience challenging seasons, hardship or heartache. Jesus tells us in John 16:33 that we will have trouble. He even had troubles when he walked the earth. But with Christ, we can overcome those troubles and endure them with peace and strength.
We read in Isaiah 40:31,
"Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
The wise King Solomon shares in Proverbs 3:5-8,
"[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. [6] Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. [7] Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. [8] Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones."
Let us heed Solomon's advice and trust in the Lord, seek His will in prayer, depend on the wisdom of His written Word and be in awe of God so we are not led astray and therefore, complicate our lives. For God isn't complicated. As Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28-30,
“[28] Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
