Jesus spoke of what it will be like in the very last days mentioning Noah and Lot. Both examples are synonomous in context and nature. They are both structured around the earthly life. Most people including me have always read it the same way.

The same minute sketches of their lives ends with a cut off point. Noah enters into the ark while Lot flees being dragged out of Sodom before destruction.

Recently a friend of mine wrote to me sharing a brief insight. She said, "Noah left prepared and Lot left unprepared." That really caught my attention. For almost two weeks I kept thinking about that insight and the light began to shine upon it daily.

Both examples are the same yet there is much more to it. I began to see increasingly that there is another deeper message in it. Something else needed to be considered. Noah spent 100 years preparing, while Lot spent zero time in any kind of preparation.

I thank the Lord for the greater light on this subject as it opened my eyes to see that this last and final generation of the lukewarm church is represented by Lot.

Preparation for the coming of the Lord is not overnight where Lot suddenly found himself. But in the committed, longsuffering continued faithfulness in the whole life as Noah's. It is how people see the way and how you live, the words you always speak, how you conduct yourself, and speak about the Lord Jesus Christ through it all.

There was a little window built on the third story of the ark. I think of the faithful faces of Noah, his wife and sons looking through it, upwards to the heavens. Windows of opportunties of preparation are open and waiting for you. Look through the little window upwards to the Lord and begin to prepare in virtue and in His strength.

"Leave it all in the Hands that were wounded for you."
